I should really stop watching food documentaries. They make me really upset and angry at humans. I just don’t understand the lack of compassion, knowledge, and concern for the well being of animals. The intentionally harmful actions against the animals that are about to have their lives cut short is sickening. I know the point of these documentaries is to have this message but when you look to the other side, what could possibly be their reasoning for the harsh and cruel living conditions they force the animals to endure in their last days of life?

Oh just watching an environmental documentary alone. I’m real cool.
“So this is the State Correctional Institute of Pittsburgh. That’s where a bunch of my buddies are. Rather than getting on with their life, the vast majority of the guys end up here or dead.
“The state spends $33,000 a year on each prisoner…which makes the total cost of the average prison term $132,000. The average private school cost $8,300 a year. So, for the same amount, we could have sent a prison inmate to a private school from kindergarten through 12th grade, and still had over $24,000 left over for college.
“It’s a very expensive hotel man. You gotta feed them for three meals a day. You have to provide recreation. You have to provide security. You have to provide medical care. These guys don’t pay taxes. They don’t work. It’s money that goes one way only.”
Waiting for Superman was so informative and broke down why the schools systems are the way they are. There’s so many factors going in that it’s difficult to put blame in any one area. The first time I saw it, I cried because there are parents out there who do realize that the system is broken and just want to give their children a chance. It’s messed up that these children are virtually punished because of adults and their politics. In the end, it will be everyone who suffers because they really are the future. It’s crazy to me that there are jobs available in the United States, but because of our low education standards we are, for the most part, unqualified for these positions and that’s why the Silicon Valley positions are outsourced to Asian countries. And when someone like Michelle Rhee comes in to attempt to swiftly fix the problems that were constantly complained about, people can’t make up their damn minds-it’s like these people never actually thought change would come and when it did, they got all scared about it. Our country is so backwards sometimes, it annoys me.
i’m writing a paper on the whole foods, plant-based diet for my environmental communication class.
i don’t eat much red meat, but i never really understood why go vegan.
but i hate to say the documentary Forks Over Knives has me convinced.
Forks Over Knives is so informative and so simple on how people can just live better with a little knowledge.
